Daily 5 is a wonderful reading block created to tap into each students' strengths and interests while broadening the spectrum of their literacy competency. I have adjusted this model to fit the needs of my students so you will notice some of our rotations are not the 'standard' rotations.
Our daily rotations include:
-Read to Self
-Read to Someone
-Word Work/Writing
-Work with Mrs. Sampley
-Lexia
Ready Gen- New Literacy Curriculum: This year, we are launching a brand new literacy curriculum! This is a learning opportunity for all of us and I look forward to all the different activities we can do as a class and in differentiated small groups.

Writer's Workshop was designed to create steps and guidelines for students to practice their writing in a purposeful way while allowing each student to write about what interests them. My students also write in their Dialogue Journals where we can write letters back and forth, on a weekly basis. This gives us the opportunity to get to know each other while practicing our grammar skills and building confidence in our writing.
enVision Math is our common core aligned math curriculum used throughout the district. I have designed our math block in a rotation-style setting where I am able to hone in on each student's specific abilities to ensure all students are successful at their own individual level. At the start of each math block, I introduce our target/standard and we assess how this target will help us get to our end of the unit goal. I then model a few examples, using the skill we are focusing on. Students are then released into appropriate level groups to complete a practice page for the day's skill set. This typically takes much less than our 15 minute rotation so the students then move to participate in games/activities centered on our unit's skill set. Another group is practicing their fact fluency on our new app: Reflex Math. The third and final group meets with me to work on the inside of the 'newspaper-like' practice page. This is when I am able to help the students focus on the new material at hand, use specific manipulatives, encourage students to teach our group how they've solved a problem, and even help me fix my practice problems that are strategically incorrect (to challenge students to look for mistakes). Overall, we have 3 math rotations a day, each 15 minutes long, ensuring I work with each small group daily.
